Online Learning List

When I first wrote this post, it was during a time when most kids were learning in a classroom and most parents left the home in order to got to work. before the age of the pandemic, this online learning list was aimed at the older student.   

What's missing?

  • Khan Academy - http://www.khanacademy.org/ The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. We're a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere.  All of the site's resources are available to anyone. It doesn't matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. The Khan Academy's materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.
  • MIT Open Courseware - http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm - Free lecture notes, exams and videos from MIT.  No registration required. - free online course materials (including video lectures, notes, homework, and exams) from the best technical college in the world

  • Coursera.org - online courses from the world's top universities
  • edX - similar to Coursera, more STEM focused
  • Udacity - free online courses and nano-degrees
  • Udemy - online educational marketplace with limitless variety
  • Peer2Peer U - users organize and participate in courses and study groups to learn about specific topics
  • School of Everything - helps you find local teachers, lessons, and classes in all subjects)
  • University of the People - only offers business and computer science degrees, application fee + small fees for end-of-course examinations
  • Carnegie Mellon's Open Learning Initiative (OLI) - concept-specific practice, immediate feedback, like having a teacher with infinite patience, undivided attention, and an inexhaustible amount of examples and hints
